We help small cities design and build resilient microgrids

Who We Serve

We specialize in supporting small to mid-size municipalities and public agencies that need reliable power for critical services but lack the internal resources to plan and fund a full microgrid project.

  • We commonly work with:
  • Cities and towns
  • County governments
  • Public works departments
  • Water & wastewater utilities
  • Emergency management departments
  • Police, fire, and 911 dispatch facilities
  • Community shelters and emergency operations centers
  • If your community is vulnerable to:
  • Hurricanes, storms, floods, or heat events
  • Aging electrical infrastructure
  • Long utility outages
  • Limited backup generation capacity
  • We help you build a practical, step-by-step microgrid plan that fits your budget, timeline, and regulatory requirements.

The Problem

Most municipalities understand the importance of resilient power — but turning that awareness into a real project is where they get stuck.

Common challenges we see:

  • Limited Staff Capacity
Public works and utilities teams are already stretched thin and don’t have time to manage complex energy studies and vendor coordination.
  • Unclear Project Scope
Many cities know they need backup power but lack a defined microgrid concept, site selection, and system sizing.
  • Funding Confusion
Federal and state programs exist, but it’s difficult to know which ones apply and what documentation is required to qualify.
  • Vendor-Driven Planning
Equipment vendors often push predefined solutions that may not be optimized for your actual loads or long-term costs.
  • Lack of a Clear Roadmap
Without a structured action plan, cities remain stuck in “discussion mode” for years with no progress.

Our role is to remove this confusion and give you a clean, independent, and buildable path forward.

Our Solution

We provide independent, vendor-neutral microgrid planning services for municipalities. We do not sell solar panels, batteries, or generators.

Our sole focus is to help you:

  • Identify the right facilities
  • Define the right system size and configuration
  • Estimate realistic project costs
  • Map out viable funding programs
  • Build a clear execution roadmap

Our Core Service:

Microgrid Readiness Package

This package is designed for cities that want to move from

idea → defined project → fundable opportunity.

What’s Included:

  • Critical Facility Assessment
Review of 1–3 essential facilities such as:

    • Water and wastewater plants
    • 911 dispatch centers
    • Police and fire stations
    • Emergency shelters
  • Load & Power Demand Analysis
Evaluation of historical utility usage and critical load requirements during outages.
  • Conceptual Microgrid Design
High-level system configuration prepared by licensed engineers, including:
  • Recommended energy sources
    • Approximate system size (kW / kWh)
    • Conceptual one-line diagrams
  • Order-of-Magnitude Cost Estimates
Preliminary capital and operating cost ranges to support budgeting and grant applications.

Additional Services (After Readiness Study)

  • Grant and funding application support
  • RFP and procurement document development
  • Owner’s representative support during bidding
  • Vendor evaluation and selection assistance

How It Works

Our Expertise

Step 1 – Discovery & Facility Selection

We begin with a short discovery call to understand your power risks, critical facilities, and resilience goals. Together, we select 1–3 priority sites for evaluation.

Step 2 – Engineering & Cost Analysis

Our engineering partners analyze your loads and develop a conceptual microgrid design along with realistic cost ranges and system sizing.

Step 3 – Funding & Implementation Roadmap

We identify applicable funding programs and deliver a 12–24 month action plan to guide your city from planning to procurement.

You receive a complete Microgrid Readiness Report that can be used for:

  • Internal budgeting
  • Grant applications
  • Council or board approval
  • RFP development
